Recent trends in and preparedness for extreme weather events

The forest industry has significant experience and capacity in dealing with climate variability and the incidence of extreme weather events at an operational level. Furthermore, the industry is increasingly engaged in a number of collaborative research, capacity building and policy initiatives to more adequately manage for, and anticipate, these extreme events. AFPA strongly urges Governments at all levels to consider and support these types of initiatives and to adopt key recommendations as they relate to the forest industry and related industries and communities.

 

Active Forest Management - Occasional Paper No 1

Active Forest Management is an approach which takes seriously the need to manage the forest estate on a whole-of-landscape basis. Only where we acknowledge that forests have to be managed for a variety of outcomes, can we put in place the range of incentives and management regimes appropriate to these.

 

Chemical Bill misses the mark
