About AFPA
AFPA Transitional Board of Directors
The Australian forest products industry has a great story to tell of a carbon positive, renewable, natural and environmentally friendly resource.
In 2011, it was decided by industry leaders that this story can be told more clearly, more effectively and more powerfully by one industry voice.
The Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) was formed through the merger of the Australian Plantations Products and Paper Industry Council (A3P) and the National Association of Forest Industries (NAFI).
On 21 March 2011, this vision was announced at a gala dinner at Parliament House in Canberra to celebrate the United Nations’ Declaration of 2011 as the ‘International Year of Forests’.
“A single voice, a single association, is a clearer and more concise way to present the forest products industry to governments, the media and the people of Australia in a united fashion.” - Linda Sewell, Inaugural AFPA Chair and former A3P Chair, after announcing the creation of AFPA in Canberra on 21 March 2011.
